In 2003, Lorna is a teacher with the highly-acclaimed British Wheel Of Yoga, and set up Luna Yoga & Health to offer yoga in Winchester and the surrounding area. Lorna has drawn inspiration from a range of yoga styles, including Iyengar, Ashtanga, Yin and Vini, leading her to develop her own style of Hatha Yoga Flow, which she uses in her general classes. Her Restorative Yoga sessions have also gained in popularity over the past few years and are on offer fortnightly.
Lorna also teaches yoga for specific groups, including cyclists, pianists, desk workers, teens and chair yoga for people with restricted mobility.
Stand-Up Paddle Board Yoga (SUP Yoga) is Lorna’s biggest passion in the warmer months, creating a perfect blend her love of yoga, water and nature. Lorna introduced SUP Yoga to the Hamble River in Hampshire in 2016 and is proud to work alongside top-quality Quroc Paddle Boards and highly-experienced water enthusiasts Adventure 360 to offer group and private yoga sessions, paddle board tuition and paddle board and yoga adventures. Lorna has paddled and practiced SUP Yoga around the UK, in Italy, France, Switzerland and Greece and is now also a foundation paddle-board instructor with the Water Skills Academy.
Lorna’s classes focus on linking postures fluidly from one to another, using the breath as a guide. Specific pranayama (breathing) exercises are included at the beginning and/or end of classes. All sessions end with short relaxation in savasana (lying down).
Lorna welcomes people of all ages to all her classes, both on and off the water, and considers their individual needs by adapting postures accordingly. She has a good knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and a range of physical conditions gained through both study and practical experience in yoga and various types of exercise.
Lorna is an advocate of plant-based living and gained a Vegan Nutritionist Diploma and a Vegan Nutrition Health Coach Certification. She enjoys trying with new recipes using the vast amount of produce that her husband grows in their garden and allotment!
Lorna also makes all her own face, hand and body creams, soaps and oils, having completed a number of courses in these fields. She’s developed her own essential oil Pillow Sprays and Yoga Mat Sprays, which are available to buy.
In her spare time, Lorna also enjoys sea-swimming, paddle-boarding, cycling, walking, playing the piano and adventuring with her husband and son.
